The Coffee tour, set in the breathtaking panoramic
valley of the Poás and Barva volcanoes, is a fascinating,
multimedia presentation that takes you through the
entire process that turns a ripe coffee cherry into
a perfect cup of Costa Rican gourmet coffee. You’ll
learn every step, from the harvesting of the cherries,
to the roasting and final packaging. Top off the
tour with a coffee “cupping” session, where you
learn to recognize the distinct characteristics
of a real gourmet coffee. See the history of the
world’s favorite beverage come to life at any one
of our daily, year-round tours. This tour is a bilingual
presentation for all ages, using actors to describe
coffee production from the farm to the beverage.
The tour begins in an actual coffee plantation.
Afterwards visitors are invited to a theater performance
which informs them about the history and processing
of coffee. Later the audience is taken to the roasting
facility to see the final stages of coffee preparation
and to participate in a coffee cupping (tasting
session).
